2016 Annual Meeting of the Séguin d’Amérique
Rigaud QC, June 18th, 2016
Rigaud Sugar Shack
Something simple and original. That was our choice for 2016. On June 18th. thirty-six people gathered at La Sucrerie de la Montagne in Rigaud for a sugar shack meal. I had mentioned that I didn’t know if we could have taffy on snow in June. I was told that an advance request could be made. I was totally surprised but unfortunately I found out too late.
At 9:30 a.m. the Board of Directors was ready for the welcoming. The day was fantastic and some took advantage of the favourable conditions to walk down the sugarbush paths. The annual meeting followed in the hall where the meal would be served. We had the pleasure of welcoming additional members who took the time to fraternize with us and assist at the meeting.
And we have now reached the relaxation period. Everyone engages in conversations while pay-ing themselves a drink. Others chose to go out in the sun that was out in all its grandeur. At noon everyone was at the table. We shared the hall with a German group. They were camera addicts and also curious to find out who we were. The music starts along with the serving of the meal. Everyone ate well and also had the opportunity to sing.
After the meal we had a guided tour. To be noted, we did not have very far to walk as all the buildings were located in the vicinity of the dinning hall. The guide chose this occasion to inform us about the Séguin who owned this sugarbush and certainly, all remember Jacqueline #12 who was very involved at this place.
To end the day everyone was invited to visit the log chalet that we had
