The second gathering of the Séguin at the Rigaud arena, on Saturday, August 17, allowed more than 400 descendants of François Séguin to fraternize and have fun while exchanging genealogical information. The day was beautiful and warm, allowing the kids to frolic in the great outdoors while the parents saw the destiny of their young association, which already has 300 members.
In the morning, the general assembly was led by President Yolande Séguin-Pharand who then entrusted the reins to Laurier Tranchemontagne (a mother Séguin) to proceed with the elections of the directors. Two positions were filled by two André Séguins, one from Laval and the other from Hull.
The dinner (picnic) then allowed families to meet either inside the arena or in the green spaces surrounding the sports center.
The afternoon began with the election of the executive where all the former members were reappointed. Then came the meeting of the Séguins with discussion on various files.
Madame Pharand, the president, gave a brief overview of the Boucherville festivals of 1992: celebrations which will celebrate the 320th wedding anniversary of ancestors François Séguin and Jeanne Petit in the church of Boucherville, where they married on October 31, 1672.
The young journal of the Association "La Séguinière" was also presented to the participants.
There was also talk of a trip to France in 1993 ... to the land of the ancestor. A first survey allows us to foresee a strong participation overseas, since 62 Séguin have already registered.
The day ended at the sanctuary of Lourdes with the 16:30 mass celebrated by Father Édouard Séguin, c.s.v. # 145.
